What we have done to make this website accessible
-
We have employed strong color contrast to ensure site content is easy to see and read.
-
We have made the website texts as simple as possible to understand.
-
We have included a 'Skip to Main Content' feature that allows visitors using keyboard navigation to bypass the topmost sections of a site (such as menus and page headings) and skip directly to the main content of the page.
-
We have made web pages appear and operate in predictable ways. All the page and design elements for the website are designed to create consistent pages with unified behaviors and styles. For example, components that have the same functionality can be identified consistently across web pages.
-
We have organized the site and heading structure (DOM order and semantics) in a way that ensures that visitors using assistive and additional technologies can browse and navigate the site in a logical order.
-
We have added descriptive page titles that accurately summarize the page's content and include any essential information.
-
We have added alt text (alternative text) to images to ensure that visitors using assistive and additional technologies can access the content and understand what the image contains.
-
Whenever possible, we provide link text that identifies the purpose of the link without needing additional context and made them descriptive as possible.
03
Incompatibilities and exceptions
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
-
Some pages and document attachments are not written in plain English / German.
-
PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. We will rectify this by 24 December 2025. We will carry out an audit to assess the accessibility of our PDFs and plan to either fix these or replace them with accessible HTML pages. We will also try to make sure any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
-
Some links to external websites (i.e. Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook) open a new window (or tab) without warning.
-
Some pages may contain animations that cannot be paused, stopped or hidden.
04
What we are doing to improve accessibility / Disproportionate burden
We've assessed the cost and resources needed to fix above issues. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations.
Still, we are committed to providing a website that is accessible to all and we are working hard to achieve that, but it will take some time due to the scale and complexity of the task.

Enforcement procedure
If we could not help, you can also contact the Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung (FFG) (Austrian Research Promotion Agency with limited liability) in order to file a complaint. The FFG accepts complaints electronically using the contact form: Go to the contact form of the complaints office
The complaints are examined by the FFG to determine whether they relate to violations of the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in compliance with accessibility requirements, by the federal government or an institution attributable to it.
If the complaint is justified, the FFG must issue recommendations for action to the federal government or the legal entities concerned and propose measures to remedy the deficiencies at hand.
