1. Transport of the glass horses to the fine art warehouse in Innsbruck
It took 4 art handlers and 5 days to pack the glass horses into the crates for the transport from Ars Murano in Venice to the MuseumsPartner fine art warehouse in Innsbruck.

First barrier: the gateway was too narrow to get the crates outside. Therefore, walls had to be knocked down.
Then, the crates were transported via the Traghetto (Venetian ferry boat) to Tronchetto (island located in the lagoon area of Venice)

2. Operations inside the MuseumsPartner fine art warehouse in Innsbruck
MuseumsPartner was asked to attach the horses to new glass bases. Each horse was precisely measured to custom-fit the bases.
The old bases were detached and the horses were carefully lifted onto new glass stands.
Our team had to find the safest packing solution for the fragile horses. Here, some examples of MuseumsPartner fine art crates.
MuseumsPartner decided to pack each horse into custom climate crates. Additionally, biodegradable and residue-free ISOCELL packing peanuts were pumped into the crates to guarantee a safe transport via air.
3. Air freight to Doha and installation of the glass horses on “The Carousel”:
- 14 tons freight
- via dedicated fine art truck from
Innsbruck to LGG - air freight LGG DOH
- from minus 10°C in Innsbruck to over 30°C in Doha
Customs clearance at the airport and delivery to the Education City. MuseumsPartner art handlers, who had accompanied the horses at all times, checked the shock watches, opened the crates and removed the filling material.
Let the show begin
The horses were unpacked, the condition reports completed and the glass horses installed at their final destination.
A further project
The unfinished monumental painting “Spring”, by Hans Markart from 1881 was an
amazing project for our art handlers.
